Ooh don't you just love marbling?

May 1, 2017

More marbling with the kids..Love hearing the kids say "This is so much fun!!!"

We start with some marbling ink,

I usually buy mine online at Amazon or you can get them from most art shops. I bought Scola Marbling iks which are great! They do a wide range of colours and lovey pearlescent ones which shimmer beautifully.

Next... you need to half fill a tray big enough to emerge your paper in. I use foil disposable roasting tins. These are a handy size, just slightly smaller than A4 and can be reused for marbling again and again.

Next... drop a few drops of oil onto the water, swirl it around and let the fun begin!!!!!

Begin by swirling the drops in the water with a wooden skewer or end of a paintbrush. The slower you move the ink drops in the water, the more movement you will have in your ink as the trails of colours swirl around. Beautiful!

Drop colours inside other colours and draw through with a stick to create beautiful 'Peacock' like patters.

When you are happy with your colours place a piece of paper onto the water. Gently pat the paper down onto the surface of the water so the underside is completely wet.

NEXT... gently lift the paper and be amazed at what you created...

Hope you enjoy!!
