Rainy days & rainy art...

March 20, 2017

Well the lovely rainy Manchester weather is here, so I decided we would create some rainy day sketches in charcoal 'impressionist style' and didn't the kids do well!

First we made loose sketches in charcoal starting with the horizon line, then we began to add the trees with lighter grey trees in the background and darker trees in the foreground to add depth. We then began to smudge across the ground to give the appearance of drizzle and splashy puddles. Then we added our people and finally our falling rain with white chalk to give movement. Such fun!!
